The story

A woman the world
deserved to know

She was born on 13 April 1959 in Casablanca, motherless at six months old. She walked sixteen kilometres a day with worn-out shoes to get to school. She crossed two continents, three religions, four cancers.

She took the train alone to Montpellier with her suitcase and her cancer. She chose her wigs with a smile. She wrote her letters in her own spelling and with her own dignity — and she signed them: Yours sincerely.

She died at fifty, with a smile.

« All of this, I leave in God's hands. »

Excerpts from the book
"

There are women who are born in the storm and learn to dance in the rain before they even know how to walk. Jacqueline was one of them.

The Hymn — Jacqueline's chapter
"

"It's snowing! It's snowing!" Jacqueline was at the window — calling to her son with pure wonder in her voice. She was twenty-three and marvelled at the snow as if it were the first time. It is the most beautiful memory of his childhood.

Chapter Six — It's snowing
"

She was smiling. Jacqueline had died with a smile. After Casablanca and the worn-out shoes. After four cancers and thirteen years of fighting — she was smiling. That smile, Samir will carry until his last day.
